BED BUGS

Traditional pesticides kill bed bugs by contact and long-term residual exposure.

However, recent studies show that bed bugs are becoming increasingly resistant many pesticides labeled for bed bug treatment.  Inefficient dosages and weakened products have contributed this growing statistics.  In addition, there are currently no approved pesticides that will kill bed bug eggs.

With pesticide applications, bed bugs must come in contact with a sufficient dose to cause mortality.  There are many variables that determine whether or not a treatment will be successful.  These variables include: how long the customer has had bed bugs; what do-it-yourself treatments the customer has tried; what products the professional is using; at what rate those products are mixed; clutter levels; etc.

TRADITIONAL PRO’S

Professional pesticides, as well as the equipment used in application, are relatively inexpensive.  This makes traditional applications a good solution for those who are working with a strict budget.

TRADITIONAL CON’S

Because there are no labeled pesticides that kill bed bug eggs it is necessary to do multiple treatments spread out over a period of time.  This is not usually an acceptable solution for customers wanting their bed bug problems solved in a hurry.  Additionally, bed bugs that do not come in contact with the products will continue to survive and propagate.

Along with bed bugs becoming increasingly resistant to chemical pesticides, customers are becoming more opposed to treatments involving chemicals.

Preparation for traditional treatments can also be very onerous for customers who don’t want to rearrange their whole house.
